A Blowjob, or fellatio is the act of performing oral sex on a male, regardless of sexual orientation.  The blowjob can be part of foreplay, or an act to have the male reach climax without the need to have intercourse and consequently an increased chance of STD’s as a result. Some similar terms include “ going down”, and “giving head”. The word fellatio is latin in origin and comes from the latin verb ‘to suck’.

The history of blowjobs have been around since the ancient Kama Sutra texts, dating back to the first AD centuries where it mentioned in great detail, while only focusing little detail on cunnilingus or “eating pussy”. Due to societal views, the author of the Kama Sutra referred to those who perform fellatio (translated directed as “mouth congress”) as generally for transgender, effeminate homosexuals, or in terms of women that were “unchaste” or promiscuous.  

Because of the modern view fellatio may seem like a dominant act forced to a submissive male or female, and as such may have an unfavorable view of the act, however modern doctors and sexologists, as well as sex talk personalities disagrees as to the act and if it is misogynistic.

However fellatio can be an important way to bring intimacy to a couple and their relationship, and can be done simultaneously in a 69 position for both couples to receive oral stimulation without having a dominant role.

A blowjob can also vary in technique in speed, control, and deepness that the penis enters the throat. This term, more commonly known as Deepthroat and popularized by the 1970’s porn film of the same title.  The problem’s experienced for the person performing the deepthroat can be that the length of the penis causing their natural gag reflex to be set off. Deepthroating also known as throatfucking, has gained popularity in the last decade in the porn industry.

Consuming the sperm, known colloquially as swallowing is dependant upon the recipient of the sperm, and may be done for the recipient’s pleasure, or to please their partner after bringing them to climax. In certain cultures the ingestion of semen is considered sacred. In certain tribes in Papua New Guinea the young males ingest older male’s semen in order to have the youth achieve proper sexual maturity. Then when this young male grows up, he in turn passes up his semen to the younger boys.
