Pick up lines for men are phrases used to ‘break the ice’, or initiate contact with someone we are sexually attracted to. They can be humorous, inquisitive, or simply mentioning something you’ve noticed about a female. There is also a tendency to have many pick up lines become oversaturated from use and potentially backfire upon the male, however a witty man can often use this tactic to his advantage using a ‘tired’ line on purpose.
Pick up lines are a small, however very crucial part of a conversation, that if pulled off correctly, can be a memorable first impression, and if handled awkwardly, then can ruin any chance to have any further discussion with the female. This is why pickup lines are mentioned in Dating Guides, as Pick-up Artists - the pros, confess to still experiencing feelings of anxiety prior to initiating contact.
The good news is that while this is the hardest part in most cases, unless you’re being introduced to the female, that this one-liner can go a long way in forging a discussion and potentially a number.
The easiest way to get over the anxiety or nervous feelings surrounding the first impression is just to jump in; much the same way the easiest way to enter a lake is to plunge in. Appearing nervous sometimes can work in your favor, more than not looks like a sign of weakness that women pick up subconsciously so your results will be diminished.
The most simplistic pick up line is just an introduction of yourself, in a calm and clear voice, reminding yourself to enunciate so as to not sound like your mumbling, or have her mispronounce your name (this is doubly important if your name may be harder to pronounce)
Others can be so bad they turn out good for the former, or in the case of the latter, a spin off of tired pick up lines.
“Damn your ass is fine! want to come see mine?"
“I suffer from amnesia, do I come here often?” A play off of the terrible intro of “Do you come here often?”
Generally speaking, unless you’re fast on the reflexes to avoid a potential slap, or have the wit to survive her retort, an old pickup line is not your first choice. The clichéd pickup lines can work if you take a light hearted attitude, and can get her to see that you have the self-confidence to use an old line with the intended effect that you’re aware of just how lame or awful the pickup line is.
Remember, practice is key, remember that even a failed attempt is still an attempt and should be viewed as a reminder of what to improve upon the next time. If you never swing, you’ll never strikeout, but you’ll also be prevented from any potential homeruns.
