Pick up lines for men are phrases used to ‘break the ice’, or initiate contact with someone we are sexually attracted to. They can be humorous, inquisitive, or simply mentioning something you’ve noticed about a female. There is also a tendency to have many pick up lines become oversaturated from use and potentially backfire upon the male, however a witty man can often use this tactic to his advantage using a ‘tired’ line on purpose.
Pick up lines are a small, however very crucial part of a conversation, that if pulled off correctly, can be a memorable first impression, and if handled awkwardly, then can ruin any chance to have any further discussion with the female. Generally speaking, unless you’re fast on the reflexes to avoid a potential slap, or have the wit to survive her retort, an old pickup line is not your first choice. The clichéd pickup lines can work if you take a light hearted attitude, and can get her to see that you have the self-confidence to use an old line with the intended effect that you’re aware of just how lame or awful the pickup line is.
Remember, practice is key, remember that even a failed attempt is still an attempt and should be viewed as a reminder of what to improve upon the next time. If you never swing, you’ll never strikeout, but you’ll also be prevented from any potential homeruns.
